Welcome to our 250 year old traditional Scottish country cottage with charm and character. The Old Smiddy Cottage offers you a "home from home" self-catering or B&B holiday in peaceful and relaxing surrounding.
The Location
The Old Smiddy Cottage is located in beautiful countryside 10 miles north of Perth and 6 miles from Blairgowrie.
Stay a while! You will enjoy exploring Scotland from our cottage!
Kinclaven is an ideal base for relaxing, sight seeing or touring. The excellent road network allows you to make day trips to many of Scotland's major tourist attractions including the Highlands, Inverness and Aviemore, Balmoral and Braemar, Dundee, St. Andrews, Stirling and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs.
The Garden
The Old Smiddy loves flowers, grass, fresh air and nature and has a lovely fenced garden and orchard.
Each season is different and you will see lots of wild birds feeding, buzzards flying nearby and sheep with lambs running in the field.
There is plenty fo space for children to play and a patio with picnic furniture and BBQ.
The Hens
We have a cockerel and hens running freely in the garden. Thanks to them, we have fresh eggs for your breakfast!
If you are lucky you will see mother hen with chicks.
The Wwoofers
We are a WWOOF host! That means we welcome foreign and UK guests who wish to come to stay to learn about permaculture, self sufficiency and sustainable living. They work for us in the garden and we teach them all we know about the magic of growing and preserving food and growing flowers.
The animal policy
Well behaved pets are welcome. There is no charge for pets but a £20 returnable deposit per pet is required a the time of booking to cover any additional cleaning costs.
Dogs are only permitted in public rooms but they may sleep in a cage in your room at night. Please do not leave them unattended in the property. They can be exercised up the lane nearby.
Please bring clean bedding and a cage for your dog to sleep in otherwise dogs must sleep in your car.
Self-Sufficiency
Our goal is to be as sustainable as possible in the 21st century.
We grow fruit and vegetables and we take care of a beautiful garden and harvest and preserve our produce with a view to being a self sufficient as possible all year round.
